Robin bruce lockhart5/10/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() In his book Dragon Days (2013), James Bruce Lockhart sums up the family character when he arrived at the Dragon School in 1949: "The Bruce Lockhart family were schoolmasters, imperial soldiers, and diplomats, they taught, directed, and administered and they played games in their spare time muscular Christianity was their thing." Family members However, by the use of the name by almost all the men of the family, and later by all its daughters, too, the name Bruce has come to be regarded as part of the surname, in some cases leading to the adoption of a hyphen. For Lockhart, the name Bruce was a middle Christian name, celebrating distinguished ancestors, and most of his sons also had it as a middle name, their surname as registered at the General Register Office remaining simply Lockhart. In 1895 he founded Seafield House Preparatory School at Broughty Ferry, and in 1906 bought Eagle House School, at Sandhurst, Berkshire. Lockhart was headmaster of several schools: first the Waid Academy, at Anstruther, then Spier's School, Beith, a new school. ![]()

Total recall by arnold schwarzenegger5/10/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The committee has issued two rounds of subpoenas to a batch of close aides and allies of former President Donald Trump as well as individuals involved in the planning and organization of the “Stop the Steal” rally that served as a prelude to the riot at the Capitol and other rallies organized in the lead-up to the day of the attack. Schwarzenegger’s comments – made to Bash late this summer – ahead of the launch of the podcast – come as the special House committee investigating the riot at the Capitol on January 6 ramps up its work. ![]() “Eventually, this whole thing can go really quickly south.” “I just felt that it was so sad of what happened on January 6,” Schwarzenegger said. “This is so much kind of a feeling of what they were talking about when we were talking about in a Nazi time of when people were lied to all the time and what that led to,” Schwarzenegger told CNN’s Dana Bash, who asked the former governor why he put out a video message comparing the January 6 riot to Kristallnacht, in an upcoming episode of her CNN podcast “Total Recall: California’s Political Circus.” ![]() Arnold Schwarzenegger – who warned of the dangers of fascism following the insurrection at the US Capitol last winter – said he feels the events of Nazi Germany mirror “what happens to when people are being lied to about the elections.” ![]()

Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar5/10/2023 ![]() ![]() It’s an old real mystery and we see what one person with a lot of dedication can do. Eichar revisits and examines the unsolved, closed case of the deaths of nine hikers in February of 1959 in the Ural Mountains of Russia. I enjoyed this book a lot and would definitely recommend people to give it a read. But what makes this book fantastic is Eichar’s dedication to the mystery as he decides to make the same journey as the group in order to better understand what happened. Eicher also asks a bunch of scientists what they thought and tries to cover all his tracks. He interviews people important to the story and goes back and does research on the original documents. You can read about the original story of Dyatlov pass here.ĭonnie Eichar does a wonderful job of diving into this mystery. I have seen it around a bunch of times and when I saw this book in Amazon, I had to learn more about this tragedy. Some of you might have heard this story before because it is famous. Donnie interviews people decades later and tries to solve their mysterious deaths and that means he has to take the same journey to figure out how the nine students died. D ead Mountain is a true story about a group of students who went missing in February 1959 after going hiking in the treacherous Russian Ural Mountains. ![]()

The witch elm5/10/2023 ![]() I don't want to nitpick some other things because I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but there are other unlikely points. The final "event" - after the reveal - came across as impossible, not necessarily because of Toby's character, but because of the character of the other person. Then, about a quarter of the way past the turning point, I knew who did it. ![]() The main character is shallow and unlikeable. I waited so anxiously for this book and started devouring it, but had to set it aside from time to time because the repetition was so mind-numbing. ![]() I waited so anxiously for this book and started devouring it, but had to set it aside from …more You'll be disappointed, if my experience holds true for you.
