Get a hint dani brown5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The secondary characters were also so fleshed out and really gave the story a nice rounded feel. Watching the two main characters’ work on themselves and work out their relationship was so refreshing to see and it just gave the reader hope. The reader loved the little tidbits of information that they’d get about a character because it made them more relatable, more personable and not just a character in a book they felt like real people. The fake dating trope was a lot of fun to read and really tested the characters. ![]() ![]() The writing was so good and clever between the witty banter that had the reader literally laughing out loud, to the more serious topics of commitment the writing was really well done. The story was captivating from the beginning and the pacing was good not too fast that the reader zipped right through it, and not too slow that it bored the reader, it was a nice in between. How long does playing last until it becomes real? This novel was fun, sexy, and an all-around good time. Realizing this is giving Zaf attention to his charity, he asks Dani to play along. Reckless Traveler by Walter Rhein5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() Although these films are great entertainment, particularly for munching on popcorn in an air-conditioned theater on a hot summer day, these films leave no lasting impression or engage in any controversial topics.Įven more artistic films from major studios are relatively conservative. One of the most successful entertainment franchises of our time is the series of films featuring Marvel superheroes. ![]() There is the pretense that only the very best scripts are made into films, but you only need peruse titles like ‘Sharknado’ to come to the realization that this isn’t the truth. It is only the independent writer, who does not fear to lose a position of social stature, that is free to anticipate the moral standard of a better world.Įducated people often complain about the quality of film and literature that is widely available. An author who achieves a high standing within the literary community of his or her age, becomes reluctant to examine the existing moral structure. The problem is that challenging the moral perspective of a society is a contentious and therefore hazardous action. In early American history, the concept of slavery fit within this standard, and when Mark Twain challenged the morality of slavery in ‘Huckleberry Finn’ he helped to create the kind of social awareness that eventually moved the moral compass of our whole society. Within every society there is a fairly narrow set of boundaries for what constitutes acceptable moral conduct. ![]()

A sweet and bitter magic5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() A source consents to share their power with a witch, it’s an active choice made between two people. ![]() The dynamic between a witch and her source was one I hadn’t seen too often in fantasy stories – that of consent. She learns to weave enchantments, but it comes at a cost of her energy. A witch, on the other hand, controls magic. A source is a person who can sense magic, and who houses a reservoir of potential magic that can be harnessed by a witch. In this intriguing novel, humans are split into three categories those without magic (aka commonfolk), those that can use magic ( witches), and those that are magic (sources). In Bitter and Sweet Magic by Adrienne Tooley, it’s a little different. Of course, this also means that there are two types of magic – light, and dark. From Harry Potter to Lord of the Rings, magic is used as a form of power, something that comes deep from the earth itself. When it comes to building fantasy worlds, magic seems part and parcel of how the world works. ![]()

Novel crazy rich man5/13/2023 ![]() ![]() It was on top of a hill and it had a beautiful panoramic view of kind of Singapore. It was a world of beauty that I think I really took for granted as a child. It was a very multigenerational family compound. this is something to never be talked about. I think you've been trained almost from birth. It's something that's extremely hard to articulate. So by comparison, I think I led a privileged, lucky life but it wasn't as extreme as what would be depicted in the movies. So while we had all the privilege, we didn't have the same spoils that, you know, "Crazy Rich Asians" would have today. I came from a family of extremely old money, and so by the time I was born there was really just a trickle of money left. Your purchase helps support NPR programming.
